AI/Deepfake
Video claiming to show an emotional support kangaroo being denied entry onto a plane.
The archived version of the post can be seen here, which has clocked 1.7 million views so far.
The ambiguous language, the blurry hand movements, and the out of sync audio, all led to believe that the media could have been synthesised using AI technology.
We then ran the video past Hive Moderation, an AI-content detection platform, which found it 99.9% likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content.
We also ran a keyword search for “emotional support kangaroo plane”, which led us to numerous reports, seen here, here, here and here, stating that the viral video, which has been racking up millions of views across platforms and fooling thousands online, sparking widespread confusion, was actually AI-generated.
According to the reports, the video was initially shared by an Instagram page called Infinite Unreality on May 26, 2025, known for creating AI-based videos of animals in bizarre scenarios. We looked up the page, where the bio reads, “Visual Effects Artist; Your Daily Dose Of Unreality”, while we found many such unrealistic and surreal AI-generated videos, which feature Infinite Unreality’s logo that can also be seen in the viral kangaroo video.
