Elon Musk has accused the BJP and RSS of conspiring to instigate ethnic conflicts in Arunachal Pradesh.
The videos circulating with this claim have been identified as deepfakes - they are AI-generated and not authentic.
A 5-minute 5-second video of Tesla founder, billionaire Elon Musk, who helms the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Donald Trump administration, alleging that the RSS and the BJP are planning to instigate ethnic conflicts in Arunachal Pradesh, has gone viral on Facebook. It appears that Musk is claiming that the RSS is looking to convert everyone in India to Hinduism, including the people of Arunachal Pradesh while questioning the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act (AFRA) as a political tool to divide the indigenous tribes.
Here is what Musk purportedly said:
First of all, you say Christians use an unlawful way of converting indigenous people into Christianity, but I wonder where have you witnessed or heard about it? But of course, Christians might recommend people to follow Jesus, but they never force fraud or induce anyone to do so in the entire world, at least in this modern generation, as I know. In fact, it is an unlawful thing to do, not just in religious conversion, but it is an unlawful way of doing anything in any human affairs in the first place. The recommendation is not a forced action, but a choice. So please stop accusing Christians with such false rumours. If so, then at least come up with some solid factual facts that proves it, which I don’t think you will ever find, because there is none. Every human on earth knows the nature of Christianity, of what and how they do things, and that is to promote love, peace, and forgiveness. And do you really think that people would believe that Christians converse indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh with force, fraud, and inducement? And you say Christians are against this act because they are afraid of the punishment mentioned in the act, but why would they be afraid if they are not guilty? They are just concerned about losing their right of freedom of religion, which allows them to practice their baptism rituals without any interference from the state. And you also say that it will protect Christian people from converting to Islam.
But I don’t think Christian Indigenous would like to abuse the freedom of religion of their own Indigenous people in any way like you are trying to do. And lastly, you say you dislike Christians because they call you satanic. People, you see, Satan is the opponent of Jesus, then you are opposing the ideology of Christianity Which makes you satanic because Satan is the opponent and it’s a little bit rude to say that but I don’t think all the Christian People say there must be one or two here and there but if you really think about it is not of a big deal like you might think because directly or indirectly every religion is opposing every other religions in the world based on different religious ideology. As everyone thinks their God is the only one true God. Otherwise, why would there be so many gods in religion instead of just one? I am still wondering how the AFRA Act protects your indigenous faith. Obviously, you would then say it protects your faith from forceful conversion. But to be honest, have you ever really seen or heard of any kind of forceful conversion into Christianity or into any other religion? So, if the AFRA act does not prohibit any indigenous people to convert to any other religion on their free will, then how does this act stop your indigenous people from converting from Donyi Polo to Christianity, or any other religion, if they really want to convert? And how does this act prevent forceful conversion if there is no forceful conversion happening in the state in the first place? Be honest and ask yourself. If you look at it carefully, you will find instead of doing any good to any of you, this act is just dividing your tiny community against each other and nothing else. Now, let’s talk about the political angle or influence it might have. Considering the rally performed by the Donyi Polo followers with Hindu people shouting, Jai Ganga and Maya, and also considering Thavathidir, who is well recognized to have contributed so much in regard for Indigenous culture and affairs, going to Ganga River to perform Hindu ritual, the exact timing of this Afra issue, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I believe this act is sponsored by RSS or the BJP party, because otherwise how could such number of Donyi Polo followers claim to be Hindu by marching with followers of Hindu religion or performing Hindu ritual in Ganga River? All of a sudden, in the exact timing of this Afra Act issue. In my opinion, I believe RSS wants to convert all the citizens of India into Hinduism, including the people of Arunachal Pradesh. So their first easy target in Arunachal Pradesh could be your Donyi Polo faith, as you both worship the Sun and Moon. Using this common ground of Sun and Moon gods, they might have bribed some of the very influencing personalities from Donyi Polo community to raise this act and lead all the innocent and common indigenous people of Donyi Polo followers to face this conflict with Christians as both Hindu and Donyi Polo are not happy with Christianity for different reasons. So when the time comes, all the Donyi Polo followers might vote for the BJP without thinking based on commonality and religion so they can keep maintaining their power in the political world in the long run. Well, let me be clear that this is just my personal opinion and intuition. It is up to you to find out if it’s true or false. Whatever the case might be, all I want is to protect the peace and harmony between the Tani brothers of Arunachal Pradesh and to avoid the things that happened in Manipur. That is it for today. Newschecker observed that the lip movements in these videos looked unnatural and were not fully synchronised with the audio, raising suspicions about AI manipulation. We ran a keyword search for “Elon Musk Arunachal Pradesh RSS”, which did not lead us to any credible news reports or official statements about such a speech by the businessman.
Newschecker ran the video past Hive Moderation, an AI-content detection tool, which found it “99.8% likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content”. We ran the video past Deepware, a community-driven open-source Deepfake detection tool, which found it to be a deepfake. We also ran the audio past Resemble AI’s Deepfake Detector, which stated that the voice was “Fake”.
Similarly, another 1-minute 41-second video of Musk has gone viral, where he is purportedly appealing to the region’s natives to maintain the dignity and originality of the indigenous Donyi Polo faith while insinuating that the BJP would profit from an ethnic conflict in Arunachal Pradesh.
Here is what Musk purportedly said:
You see, there have been many gods and goddesses of sun and moon throughout human history, and not just in Hindu and Donyi Polo. For example, Ra, the sun god in Egyptian mythology, Apollo, the sun god of Roman Greek mythology, Tona-Tiu, the sun god of Aztec mythology, Sol, the sun god of Norse mythology, and also if you talk about the moon, then there is Selene in Greek mythology, Luna in Roman mythology, Changi in Chinese mythology, etc. You will find many more gods and goddesses of sun and moon if you research. I mean, why would the indigenous people of Donyi Polo call themselves Hindu? Is it just because Hindus worship the sun and moon like they do? If so, then logically speaking you should also have no problem calling yourself Hellenism of ancient Greek, Roman, paganism or Egyptian polytheism and many more because they all worship the Sun and Moon like you do. It’s funny because then you talk about protecting your indigenous faith. Come on guys. What are you doing? You are making a joke out of your own unique indigenous faith and religion The world must be laughing at your Donyi Polo faith and people who follow it right now If you want to be Hindu be Hindu if you want to be Christian be Christian But don’t mess with the originality and dignity of your own unique indigenous faith. I want to ask you guys one thing, which political party do you think is going to be most happy if Arunachal Pradesh or India becomes 100% Hindu? Similar to the previous video, here too the lip movements did not seem fully synchronised with the audio, we noticed that it was the same Musk visual used in both the viral videos, considering his attire and the background, further pointing towards the videos being deepfakes.

We are yet to trace the original Musk video and will update this article once we ascertain it.
