AI/Deepfake
Rahul Gandhi seen attending the wedding of Alex Soros with Huma Abedin.
Photo found to be AI generated.
A photo allegedly showing Congress leader and LoP Rahul Gandhi at the wedding ceremony of Alex Soros, the son of controversial businessman George Soros, and Huma Abedin, the former aide to Hillary Clinton, is being widely circulated online.
Several Facebook and X users shared the purported photo of Gandhi, criticising him for attending the Soros-Abedin wedding. Newschecker, however, found the photo to be AI generated.

The BJP had earlier alleged that the former Congress President Sonia Gandhi has links to an organisation financed by the George Soros Foundation. “Sonia Gandhi, as the Co-President of the FDL-AP Foundation, is linked to an organisation financed by the George Soros Foundation. Notably, the FDL-AP Foundation has expressed their views that treat Kashmir as a separate entity…,” the party claimed in an X post. Multiple Congress leaders, however, dismissed the accusations with Priyanka Gandhi terming it as the “most ridiculous thing they (BJP) can come up with.”
A Google Lens search on the alleged image of Gandhi did not yield any credible reports carrying the same. We also scanned through the official social media handles of the Congress leader but did not find the viral image.
On carefully analysing the viral photo, we noticed several anomalies. For instance, the bride’s hand seemed to be distorted, while Soros’ finger appeared to be merging into Gandhi’s outfit. The blurred background and extra smooth texture of the image, too, indicated that it was likely AI generated.
Further, the watermark of Grok, an AI assistant, can also be faintly seen at the bottom right corner of the viral photo allegedly showing Rahul Gandhi at Alex Soros’ wedding.
We then checked the viral photo on multiple AI detection tools which also confirmed that the media was created using artificial intelligence. Hive Moderation, for instance, concluded a 99.9% likelihood of the image containing AI generated or deepfake content, and Singhtengine found a 99% probability of the media being AI generated.
Similarly, another such detection website WasItAI too concluded the viral image of Rahul Gandhi to be AI generated. “We are quite confident that this image, or significant part of it, was created by AI,” it stated.
We were not independently able to ascertain whether Gandhi was a part of Soros’ wedding festivities or not.
