Delhi Blast: Did Senior Cops Say There Is No Terror Angle To Explosion Near Red Fort?
Claim
Videos shared online allegedly show senior police officers dismissing the November 10 Red Fort car explosion as a “probable accident” and denying any terror angle.
Fact
The viral clips of Gurugram DCP (HQ) Arpit Jain and DCP North Delhi Raja Banthia are doctored. Both officers never made such statements.
At least 13 people were killed and several others injured after a car exploded near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday (November 10, 2025). As agencies continue to investigate the blast, multiple videos have surfaced on social media allegedly showing senior police officers dismissing the terror angle, with users labeling it a “false flag operation.”
Newschecker’s investigation, however, found these videos to be doctored.
Video 1
A video circulating online allegedly shows Gurugram DCP (HQ) Arpit Jain claiming there is a 70%–80% probability that the Delhi blast was an accident.

Fact
A reverse image search on keyframes from the viral video led to an ANI post (November 11, 2025) showing the same backdrop and officer. In the authentic video, DCP Jain spoke about heightened security in Gurugram following the blast and coordination among departments — he did not say the explosion was “accidental.”

Upon analysis, his lip movements in the viral version appeared unnatural, and the lower jaw area looked smudged, suggesting AI tampering.
AI moderation tools reinforced this finding:
- Hive Moderation flagged the video as 99.8% AI-generated/deepfake.
- Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector labeled the audio as “likely deepfake.”
- Resemble.ai confirmed the voice was “fake.”

The government’s PIB Fact Check unit also flagged the video as fabricated.
Video 2
Another viral clip showed DCP North Delhi Raja Banthia allegedly saying the blast was caused by a “CNG or electric fault,” and dismissing any terror angle.

Fact
A reverse image search traced the video to a PTI post (November 11, 2025) featuring the same officer and setting. In the original footage, Banthia confirmed that UAPA, the Explosives Act, and other BNS sections had been invoked, stating investigations were underway. He made no remarks ruling out terrorism.

Further, the audio in the viral clip sounded entirely different from DCP Raja Banthia’s actual voice heard in the original PTI video.
Analysis showed unnatural lip movements, indicating AI manipulation.
The PIB Fact Check unit also called out the viral clip, affirming that it was fake.
A similar fake quote, falsely attributing a statement about the Delhi blast being caused by a CNG explosion to the Delhi Special CP (Law & Order) Ravindra Yadav, has also surfaced online.

‘Terror Incident’: Union Cabinet on Delhi Blast
On Wednesday (November 12, 2025), the Union Cabinet described the car explosion near the Red Fort as a “heinous terror incident perpetrated by anti-national forces.” The Cabinet expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed authorities to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrators, collaborators, and their sponsors are brought to justice without delay.
Verdict
The viral videos showing Police DCPs dismissing the Red Fort blast as an accident are doctored. Both officers made no such statements.
