AI/Deepfake
Claim
Video of Sudha Murty endorsing investment platform.
Fact
Video found to be manipulated using AI.
A video purportedly showing Sudha Murty, former Infosys Foundation chairperson and Rajya Sabha MP, promoting an investment platform has surfaced online. In the video, Murty allegedly endorses an “automated programme that will allow you to earn income” that is available for “40 lucky” users. The text overlay in the video states, “A platform that provides a profit of RS.2,800,000 if you start in November with 21,000.”

A keyword search for “Sudha Murty” and “investment platform” on Google did not yield any credible results stating that she had announced the launch of any such programme.
We then found a video of Murty uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Infosys in December 2022, titled ‘Listen to Sudha Murty as Infosys commemorates four decades of excellence.’ In the video, Murty can be seen in the same attire, and sitting at the identical place as seen in the viral clip.
“As Infosys commemorates four decades of excellence, listen to Sudha Murty take a walk down memory lane, her faith in her husband, Infosys’ big break, and of course the story of Infosys Foundation,” the description of the same stated. We did not find a mention of any investment platform in the video.
A comparison between the alleged clip of Sudha Murty and YouTube video by Infosys can be seen below.
Following this, we checked the viral clip on multiple AI-detection tools to verify its authenticity. AI-detection platform TrueMedia found “substantial evidence of manipulation” in the video. It found “potential AI manipulation of faces present in images and videos, as in the case of face swaps and face reenactment,” and also detected substantial evidence (100% confidence) of audio being AI generated.
We ran a shorter version of the audio on Resemble AI which termed it “fake.” ElevenLabs, a voice AI research and deployment company, found the audio to be “very likely (98% probability)” that the voice was generated using its platform.

On checking the link attached to the viral clip, we were directed to an alleged article by “The Times of India” titled “A platform that provides ₹2,100,000 income to Indian citizens who invest ₹21,000 in December. Registration for the project will close on December 27th.”
The purported article mentioned “Quantum AI”, an alleged software to “manage the trading process, minimizing the need for intervention and control on your part.” However, we could not find any such article on the official website of the Times Of India.
Further, we noticed the URL of the alleged article to be “https://7initoday24.com/” However, the official website link of the Times of India is “https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/.”
We then inspected the link attached to the viral video on Scam Detector website which found it to be “Untrustworthy. Risky. Danger.” It also concluded a low trust score of 11.2 points for the link “https://7initoday24.com/”
The webpage also contained a manipulated video allegedly showing Narayana Murthy endorsing an investment scheme. We traced the original video to an “exclusion conversion” of Sudha and Narayana Murthy at the India Today Conclave 2024. We skimmed through the entire video, but did not find any mention of an investment opportunity or finance platform.
A comparison between the two can be seen below.
We ran a shorter version of the audio on Resemble AI which termed it “fake.”
Notably, Murthy had earlier also called out his deepfake videos suggesting that he has invested/promoted trading platforms. Newschecker has also debunked multiple such manipulated videos of Sudha Murty and Narayana Murthy allegedly endorsing such investment/finance platforms.
