A video allegedly showing an aircraft built by Avanish Kumar, a teenager from Bihar, using only scrap materials has gone viral on social media platforms, drawing widespread appreciation from users. Those sharing the video further alleged that he built the plane in just one week at a cost of only Rs 7,000.
However, Newschecker found that the claim to be untrue.
The video, spanning over 42 seconds, is being widely shared on Facebook, X and Instagram.

Fact Check/Verification
A Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip led us to a Facebook post by @krisantv2020, dated March 9, 2025. Carrying the same video, it stated, “The plane of the farmer’s son, Julhas, took to the sky again in front of thousands of people. (translated from Bengali via Google)”
Taking a clue, we searched for relevant keywords on Google which yielded multiple reports published in March by Bangladeshi media outlets, identifying the man who built the aircraft as electronic mechanic Julhas Molla, a resident of Shaitgar Teota village in the Shibalaya upazila of Manikganj.
A report by The Daily Star, dated March 6, 2025, detailed, “the sky over Jafarganj, near the banks of the Jamuna River, witnessed a remarkable feat” when Julhas Molla successfully flew an ultralight aircraft that he built. It noted that the aircraft, weighing over 100 kilograms, was manufactured using aluminum, stainless steel, and iron.

It is fitted with a digital speedometer and powered by a modest 7-horsepower water pump engine. The plane attained the height of 50 feet, after which Julhas landed it safely on the ground, the report added.
Julhas spent three years researching and another year building the aircraft, and spent approximately Tk 8 lakh on the same. The local leaders of the Bangladesh National Party (BNP) praised his project and provided financial assistance, reported The Financial Post.
The Daily Sun further stated that Manikganj Deputy Commissioner Dr Monowar Hossain Mullah announced the government’s plan to provide financial assistance to Julhas for further research and building aircrafts.
Several other outlets, such as Dhaka Tribune, Channel 24 and ATN Bangla News, shared videos showing Julhas flying the plane. Julhas also runs a YouTube channel where he shares information about ultra light aircrafts.

Conclusion
Hence, we find that the viral posts, alleging that a Bihar teen built a plane out of scrap material in a week, are false.
