Claim
Video shows multiple trucks loaded with cows at Adani port for export.
Fact
Video from Iraq’s Umm Qasr port falsely shared as visuals from Adani port.
A video showing multiple trucks filled with cattle at a port is being widely shared on social media platforms. Those who shared the video claim that it showed cows meant for export through the Adani port – owned by Gautam Adani’s conglomerate. Newschecker found the claim to be untrue. The video is actually from a port in Iraq, and does not show cows being exported through Adani port.

Fact Check/Verification
On carefully analysing the viral video, we spotted men in long white robes – attire not commonly worn in India.
Further, we spotted the logo of ‘Mercedes Benz’ on the trucks seen in the viral video. Notably, trucks by Mercedes Benz are not sold in the Indian markets. Daimler, a Mercedes Benz group company, sells trucks under the name ‘Bharat Benz.’ The logos of Bharat Benz and Mercedes Benz are different.
A reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral video led us to a Facebook post by user Hamed ELhagary, dated April 19, 2024. It carried the footage being widely shared to show cows being exported through Adani port.
Another Facebook post by ‘Meat Market’ (translated from Arabic) carried the viral footage with the caption “Preparing For Eid-Al-Adha (translated from Arabic)”
We found a YouTube video by a channel called Al Mayadeen showing Iraq’s Umm Qasr Port. On comparing the visuals of the port shown in the YouTube video with the viral footage, we found several similarities between the two. The same can be seen below.
