Did Donald Trump Call Rahul Gandhi A Soros Agent? Here’s The Truth Behind Viral Claim

Donald Trump called Rahul Gandhi a Soros agent while responding to the Congress leader’s X post congratulating him on winning the US Presidential Polls. The Republican further said “someone who betrays their own country,” and sides with “anti-India elements such as George Soros” cannot “truly support” America or his vision.

Newschecker received the claim on our WhatsApp tipline (+91- 9999499044) requesting to be fact checked. Multiple Facebook users also shared the alleged X post by Trump.

A keyword search for “Donald Trump,” “Rahul Gandhi” and “George Soros” on Google did not yield any credible report stating that the US President-Elect has made such remarks against the Congress leader.

On carefully analysing the viral image, we noticed that the alleged response to Gandhi’s X post was made by X user “@thedonaldtrumph.” The account handle uses an incorrect spelling of “Trump.” 

Notably, the official X handle of Donald Trump is “@realDonaldTrump.”

We then looked up  X profile  “@thedonaldtrumph,” and found it to be a parody account of the US President Elect. Its description states, “47th President Of The United States Fan Account Managed by @AshwiniSahaya.”

On skimming through the profile, we spotted the X post that is being shared to claim that Trump called Rahul Gandhi a ‘Soros agent.’

Notably, one ‘Ashwini Shrivastava’ (@AshwiniSahaya) is identified as the admin of the X account @thedonaldtrumph. In an X post, dated November 6, 2024, he confirmed the same, stating, “Hello, everyone! How are my replies from @thedonaldtrumph to Narendra Modi,Rahul Gandhi, @JustinTrudeau  & Khalistanis?Some people are claiming this account @thedonaldtrumph is run by the BJP IT Cell, but I’m definitely not part of the IT Cell…”

Hence, an X post from a parody account has been shared to claim that Donald Trump called Rahul Gandhi a ‘Soros Agent.’
