Sardaar Ji 3 Row: Old Video Of Diljit Dosanjh’s Remarks On Bollywood Shared As Recent

Amid outrage from film associations over Sardaar Ji 3, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh says that he doesn’t care whether he gets to work in Bollywood or not.

What’s The Controversy About?

Film bodies have condemned Diljit Dosanjh, and makers of the film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir amid strained ties between New Delhi and Islamabad. BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has demanded a complete ban on all of Dosanjh’s future projects. 

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has written to PM Modi raising objection over casting of the Pakistani actor. They have demanded immediate suspension of the actor’s social media accounts in India and the removal of all his songs and films from online platforms, in addition to a permanent ban on his live performances and public appearances across the country.

A reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip led us to an X post by Anupama Chopra, founder of entertainment news portal Film Companion Studios, dated September 12, 2021. It featured a photo showing the singer-actor in the same attire, and identical background as seen in the viral clip, with the caption, “Sunday evening session with @diljitdosanjh on #FrontRow – he says he is blooming, both as a person & as an artist…”

Taking a clue, we looked up keywords “Film Companion,” “Diljit Dosanjh,” and “2021” on Google which yielded a YouTube video by Film Companion Studios, dated September 20, 2021. “Diljit Dosanjh is a singular sensation. He is a multi-faceted artist who continues to innovate and entertain his legions of fans– even in the middle of a global pandemic. On FC Front Row, Diljit chats with Anupama Chopra about being productive in a lockdown and his evolution as an artist,” the description stated.

Around 25 minutes into the YouTube video, we spotted the now-viral portion.

An article by Filmfare, dated September 20, 2021, also carried Dosanjh’s viral statement on Bollywood.

Hence, we find that an old video of Diljit Dosanjh speaking on work in Bollywood has been falsely linked to the recent controversy over Sardaar Ji 3.
