Fact check
Newschecker noticed a difference in clarity across the viral image, from Shah Rukh Khan’s face to the make-up artistes, which raised our doubts.
While scanning the replies to the viral image, we were led to this Hindustan Times report, dated August 1, 2019, describing how Chris Hemsworth transformed into “Fat Thor” in Avengers Endgame. According to the report, the star was excited to play a “new version of Thor” describing it as “hugely liberating and fun” in the clip posted by IGN, as cited by People. “We had a sort of fat suit that I think was 60 or 70 pounds. It was the hottest I’ve ever been,” Hemsworth said.
A comparison of both the images, especially the two make-up artistes and the mannequin in the background, confirmed that the original image was digitally altered to make it look like Shah Rukh Khan donned a bodysuit showing 8-pack abs.
We then ran a keyword search for “Shah Rukh Khan bodysuit Pathaan”, which did not throw up any relevant news reports. However, we came across this GQ article, dated January 25, 2023, where celebrity trainer Prashant Sawant “shares SRK’s secret formula for his body transformation in his upcoming movie”. We did not come across any reference to a bodysuit used in the film in the article. Similar articles can be seen here and here.
