We noticed that claims about Dhoni’s retirement have been on social media from at least April 3, 2025. However, Dhoni played the match between CSK and DC on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

A keyword search for “MS Dhoni”, “retirement” and “IPL” on Google did not yield any credible reports stating that the CSK player has announced his retirement from the tournament.
We, however, found multiple reports, such as this, this and this, stating that the cricketer has clarified that he is still playing the IPL.

“No, not right now. I am still playing the IPL. I have kept it very simple, I take it one year at a time, I am 43, by the time IPL 2025 finishes, I will be 44, so after that I have 10 months to decide if I will play or not.
