The viral video is not from the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. It is an old clip from the Champions Trophy match in February 2025, now being reshared with a false claim.
Amid widespread calls to boycott the India-Pakistan clash in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack and subsequent Operation Sindoor, the two teams faced off in the Asia Cup tournament on September 14, 2025, where India registered a seven-wicket win.
In this charged atmosphere, a video went viral on social media claiming to show BJP MP Anurag Thakur, ICC chairman and Union minister Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah, and former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi sitting together during the game.
