An image of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar standing on a tricolor podium is viral across various social media platforms. In the viral image , Bihar CM can be seen standing on a podium which has the colors of Indian flag. Pictures of various leaders , workers of Janata Dal United and the details of an event held in January can also be seen in the banner behind.
Several readers sent the viral image to Newschecker’s WhatsApp helpline number for verification.
Fact Check/Verification
With the help of relevant keyword search , we performed Twitter advanced search. During our search, we came across a tweet which shows Rashtriya Janata Dal (RDJ) leader and Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav standing on the podium.
We found another tweet which also shows Tejashwi Yadav standing on the podium. The image also carries out a logo of ‘Bihar Live 7’.
We analyzed the YouTube handle of ‘Bihar Live 7’ and found a video uploaded on October 21. The caption of the video reads,Tejashwi Yadav addressed an election rally in the favour of Jehanabad RJD’s Candidate Sujay Yadav.
Taking a cue from the caption, we performed a search on Youtube and found a live stream of the programme on the official Youtube Channel of Rashtriya Janata Dal.
At Two minute 17 second, we found that Tejashwi Yadav was standing on the podium.
We analyzed the viral image and the live stream of the Tejashwi Yadav rally and found that the people standing on the right of the Tejashwi Yadav are the same.

Here, You can see the similarities between the viral image and the live stream of the Tejashwi Yadav rally.
We also found that the man standing on the left of the Tejashwi Yadav is also the same.
We now searched for the banner seen behind Nitish Kumar in the viral image. We found a News18 Hindi report which carried out the same image of the banner seen in the viral image.
According to the report , the banner is from Janata Dal United training programme which was held from 22-23 January, 2020.
Conclusion
It is evident from our fact check that the image has been morphed and falsely portrays Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. The original image shows Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav standing on the podium, while addressing a rally at Jehanabad in Bihar.
