Fact Check
India reported severe damage in Pakistan’s strikes.
News reports were found to be misleadingly clipped.
In a press briefing on May 11, 2025, Pakistan’s DG ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations, the communication wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces) Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry hailed his country’s alleged “befitting reply” to India following Operation Sindoor. He aired a series of news clips, including those by Indian outlets Aaj Tak and India TV, to support his claims. Newschecker investigated both the footage, and found that they had been clipped misleadingly.
The alleged news clips presented in the Pakistan press conference can be seen below.

We investigated the news clips one-by-one.
On carefully analysing the viral clip, we noticed the text on the top screen saying, “भारत का मिसाइल अटैक… 4 पाकिस्तानी एयरबेस तबाह” and “धुआं-धुआं रावलपिंडी-चकवाल-शोरकोट… भारी नुकसान”, indicating that the report was detailing destruction in Pakistan following Indian attacks.
We also found a longer version of the news clip shared on the official X handle of Aaj Tak on May 10, 2025, with the caption, “India destroyed Pakistani launchpad – Sources (translated from Hindi).”
The report elaborated on India’s retaliatory action on Pakistan’s airbases. Around 4:18 minutes, we heard the anchor saying, “…The videos which have surfaced show tension among Pakistan citizens…It is being discussed that if you can’t safeguard your airbase, how would you protect your people?”
Aaj Tak also called out the false claim by Pakistan.

We noticed that the captions in this clip- “पाकिस्तान का मिसाइल हमला नाकाम… सबूत यहां”, “पाकिस्तान ने मिसाइल चलाई… भारत ने हवा में उड़ाया” – too suggested that the Indian forces thwarted Pakistan’s attack.
We came across a report by India TV, dated May 12, 2025, calling out the Pakistan army for using an edited news clip to “falsely claim a missile strike” on India.
“The Pakistani military claimed that they had launched a missile attack on Sirsa in Haryana, India. However, the clip shown was incomplete and deliberately trimmed to omit crucial context,” it stated.
“The (complete) footage clearly shows evidence of the Indian Air Force’s precision strikes on Pakistani airbases, including visuals before, during and after the attacks. Contrary to Pakistan’s claim, the full video proves that the missile launched by Pakistan was intercepted mid-air by Indian forces, and its debris was later found in fields in India—indicating no successful hit on Indian territory,” the report clarified.
The longer version of the clip was shared on the Facebook page on India TV on May 10, 2025 and can be seen here.
Government’s PIB Fact Check also flagged the same. “This is an attempt by Pakistan to mislead its own people by producing doctored footage as evidence,” it stated on social media.
