A video featuring a luxury car allegedly bought by Rekha Gupta after assuming the Delhi Chief Minister’s office has gone viral on social media platforms, with users calling out the BJP leader for purported excess. Gupta was sworn in as the Delhi CM on February 20, 2025, days after the BJP achieved a majority in the recently concluded Delhi Polls.
Multiple X, and Facebook users shared the 29-second-long-video allegedly showing Delhi CM’s new car worth ₹50 lakh. Newschecker, however, found the claim to be untrue.

Fact Check/Verification
On skimming through the official X account of news agency IANS, whose watermark is seen in the viral clip, we found the same video shared on February 20, 2025 at 10:10 AM. “Delhi: CM security arrived to escort Rekha Gupta, for the official proceedings,” the post stated.
Notably, Gupta took oath as the Delhi Chief Minister later in the day.
Carrying visuals of the same vehicle, an ET NOW report from February 20, 2025, stated that Gupta will in ride Kejriwal’s former official car for the oath taking ceremony
Further, we looked up the details of vehicle number ‘DL11CM0001’, and found its registration date to be April 2022 -during AAP’s rule in Delhi.
Following this, we checked for the visuals of former Delhi CMs convoy and found multiple videos showing Kejriwal using the same car. AAP leader Atishi, who succeeded Kejriwal as the Delhi CM in September 2024, was also seen commuting in the same car to Raj Niwas to submit her resignation on February 9, 2025.
Moreover, we did not find any credible reports on Rekha Gupta buying a luxury car after assuming the Delhi CM’s office.
