Amid the ongoing controversy around YRF’s upcoming movie Pathaan, an alleged screengrab of a tweet by BBC Hindi carrying “Big statement” by Shah Rukh Khan has grabbed the attention of social media users. The text in the viral image states that Khan called Pakistan his second home, and said that the first day collection of Pathaan will be donated to a Pakistani NGO. The alleged tweet further reads, “John Abraham extended his support to it. Deepika said that she was not afraid of the boycott gang before, and will not be afraid even now.”
The image is going viral on Facebook with users calling out the cast and crew of Pathaan.

We scanned through the Twitter feed of the official account of BBC News Hindi, but did not find any such tweet. A Twitter advanced search for exact phrase seen in the viral image (शाहरुख का बड़ा बयान:- पाकिस्तान मेरा दूसरा घर, पठान की पहले दिन की कमाई को पाकिस्तानी NGO के लिए किया जाएगा डोनेट । ) also did not yield any post by the news outlet.
A Google search for “Shah Rukh Khan,” “Pakistan, “second home,” “Pathaan,” “earning” & “Pakistani NGO” did throw up any relevant news report.
On analysing the viral image we spotted “Twitter for Oksatire” written next to the date stamp in the alleged BBC Hindi tweet, suggesting its satirical nature.
Following this, we attempted to dig out the origin of the viral image and conducted a keyword search for “Ok Satire” on Google which led us to a Facebook page by the same name.
The introduction to the Facebook page read, “Parody Tweets That seems Real” and it has been categorised as “ Satire/parody.”
A quick scan through the posts featured in Ok Sarire’s page helped us to spot the alleged screengrab of the BBC Hindi tweet claiming that Shah Rukh Khan called Pakistan his second home. The image was shared on Facebook by the satire page on December 15, 2022.
We could thus conclude that an alleged screengrab from a BBC Hindi tweet claiming that Shah Rukh Khan called Pakistan his second home, and expressed his intentions of donating the first day collection of Pathaan movie to a Pakistani NGO actually originated from a satire page.
