Viral Post Claiming Singer Udit Narayan’s Death Due To Heart Attack Is A Hoax

Social media users were taken aback after rumours of singer Udit Narayan’s demise took the internet by storm, making him the latest star to fall victim to the ‘celebrity death hoax’. 

The rumour was widely shared on Facebook with captions that ranged from “Famous singer Udit Narayan no more”, “Udit Narayan died of heart attack, “RIP Udit Narayan.”

From ‘Ae Ajnabi,’ ‘Pehla Nasha’ to ‘O Rey Chori,’ Udit Narayan has a long list of hit songs to his credit and has lent his voice for various actors. Apart from Bollywood hits, the singer is also known for his works in multiple regional languages. In 2016, Narayan was honoured with Padma Bhushan for his contribution to the world of music.

Fact Check/Verification

We conducted a keyword search for “Udit Narayan,” “heart attack,” & “death” on Google, but did not come across any report from credible news organisations confirming his demise. Following this, we looked up the social media accounts of the singer which did not carry any information on his health condition or the alleged death. Notably, the most recent posts on his Facebook and Instagram account were from September 2, 2022.

Next, we scanned through the official Facebook account of Udit Narayan’s son, Aditya Narayan who posted a story dismissing rumours around his father. Sharing two reports on Udit Narayan’s alleged death, he wrote “LOL He is fine. Some Journalists Aren’t”

Further, we came across multiple media reports, dated October 6, 2022, carrying a statement by Narayan’s manager on widespread rumours around the singer’s death. The manager also clarified that Narayan did not suffer a heart attack and is doing fine. The reports can be seen here, here , here and here.

Additionally, in an Aaj Tak report dated October 6, 2022, Udit Narayan himself refuted the rumours of him suffering from a heart attack. The singer reportedly said how can  a person like him, who laughs so much, get a heart attack.

Conclusion

As clarified by the  singer, his son and his manager, viral social media posts claiming that famous singer Udit Narayan has died of a heart attack are false.
