Fact

The video is genuine and was filmed at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir but it features a Maharashtrian Dhol Tasha performance by artists from Pune in January 2024.

A widely circulated video claiming to show Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti 2025 celebrations at Ayodhya’s Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir (Ram Mandir) has been found to be false.

The clip, shared extensively on X (Twitter) and Facebook, features saffron-flag-wielding performers at the temple premises, with users falsely linking it to the Maratha emperor’s birth anniversary, observed annually on February 19.

Newschecker, however, found the claim to be untrue.

Fact Check/Verification

We did not find any credible media reports on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebrations at the Ayodhya Temple.

No Official Celebrations at Ayodhya Temple

Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the trust managing Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, did not announce any events for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti

Official social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, X) show no evidence of such celebrations.

Origin of the Viral Video

By searching the keyframes of the viral video on Google Lens,  we were led to an X post by @mayursejpal, dated January 25, 2024 captioned “Maharashtrian Puneri Dhol Tasha at Prabhu Shri Ram Mandir, Ayodhya…”.  These visuals matched the viral video and seemed to be a longer version of the same video. This indicated that the same visuals have been available online since 2024

Using this information, we looked up “Dhol Tasha Ayodhya” and the investigation led us to multiple reports from January 2024 on a Pune Group performing Dhol Tasha at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. A longer version of the viral clip was also shared on YouTube by NDTV Profit on January 25, 2024.

ANI shared similar visuals from the performance, stating “Artists from Pune reached Ayodhya on January 25 and performed Dhol Tasha at Ayodhya Ram Temple. Devotees from across India are flocking to Ayodhya to offer prayers to Ram Lalla after the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. “

Conclusion

The viral video does not show Shivaji Jayanti celebrations but a January 2024 Dhol Tasha performance by Pune artists at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The footage is being repurposed out of context to falsely link it to Shivaji Jayanti. The actual event occurred a year earlier during post-Pran Pratishtha festivities.
