The official list of the Pahalgam terror attack victims features 15 Muslim names.
The post can be seen here.
A keyword search on Google for “Pahalgam terror attack” and “victims list” led us to a report by India Today, dated April 24, 2025, stating, “A US-based Kolkata techie, an excise inspector from Bihar, a realtor from Karnataka, an accountant from Odisha, a Navy officer were among those killed in the terror attack in Kashmir as they were enjoying in the picturesque meadow of Baisaran with their families.”
It also carried a list naming the 26 persons killed in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Another report by Indian Express, dated April 24, 2025, also featured the same 26 names as the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. “The victims included one person from Nepal and one local from Pulwama. Maharashtra bore the heaviest toll with six deaths, followed by Gujarat and Karnataka, which lost three residents each. West Bengal lost two. One death each was reported from Uttarakhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Kerala, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh,” the report stated.
We compared the particulars of the deceased detailed in the reports with the list going viral on social media and found them to be different.
The actual list carried one Muslim name -Syed Adil Hussain Shah, a pony ride operator from Pahalgam who lost his life while trying to save tourists from terrorists.
The viral post further claimed that the list was reported by India TV. We found that the report by the outlet did not feature the names listed in the viral claim. Rather, it also shared the same particulars of the victims as mentioned by other news outlets.
Hence, the alleged list of Pahalgam terror attack victims naming 15 Muslims was found to be fabricated.
