Viral Photo Of Vijay Mallya With Congress’ Supriya Shrinate Is AI Generated

On carefully analysing the alleged photo of Mallya with the Congress member, we spotted the watermark of “Grok”, an AI assistant, on the bottom left-side. 

Newschecker then looked up the viral photograph on multiple AI detection tools which concluded a high probability of the media being AI generated. Hive Moderation, for instance, found a 99.9% likelihood of the image containing AI generated or deepfake context. Similarly, Sightengine found a 99% probability of the media being AI generated. 

We also looked up the viral photo on WasItAI, another AI detection website, which concluded, “We are quite confident that this image, or significant part of it, was created by AI.” 

Congress Attacks BJP Over Mallya’s ‘Informing Jaitley’ Remark

In a recent podcast, Vijay Mallya claimed that he had informed the erstwhile Finance Minister  and BJP leader Arun Jaitely before leaving the country in 2016. “…He (Jaitley) denied meeting me. A Congress MP saw us and then told the media, ‘No, I saw them together’. Jaitley had to retract his statement. He then said I met him, but only while walking — it was a fleeting meeting,” he said.

 Mallya further clarified that he never claimed to have had a formal meeting with the late minister. “All I said is that I told the Finance Minister while leaving that I’m going to London to go to Geneva for a meeting. I’ll be back. Please tell the banks to sit across the table and settle with me. How long does this take — this one sentence?” he reportedly said.

Sharing this snippet from the podcast, the Congress stated, “It is clear that the Modi government has a hand in helping Vijay Mallya escape from the country.”

Hence, the viral photo of Vijay Mallya with Congress’ Supriya Shrinate was found to be AI generated.
