Fact
A Google lens search on the keyframes on the viral video led us to a Facebook post by Times Now, dated February 3, 2022. Carrying the same footage, it stated, “The Trinity Spirit, a vessel able to store about 2mn barrels of oil blew up off the coast of Nigeria. The blast is the second major environmental blow to strike Nigeria in the past 3 months after a month-long oil spill had hit the Niger Delta.”
We also found a report by Nigeria-based Channels Television from February 2022 carrying snippets from the viral video. “An oil vessel belonging to Shebah Exploration & Production Company Ltd (SEPCOL) has exploded in Delta State. According to a brief by the management of SEPCOL, the explosion… engulfed the offshore facility known as FPSO Trinity Spirit, located at the Ukpokiti Terminal, around Excravos, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state,” stated the report.

The SEPCOL CEO, Ikemefuna Okafor said that ten crew members were on board when the explosion occurred in Nigeria’s southwest Delta state, as per an AP report. Adding that the cause of the explosion is being investigated as “necessary parties” work to contain the situation. A Reuters report stated that at least three people were dead in the incident.
Multiple other outlets like this, this and this also reported on the incident in February, 2022.
Hence, an old video of an explosion in a Nigerian oil vessel has been falsely shared to show Yemen attacking an Israeli ship.
