Detailing the incident, a Hindustan Times report dated May 28, 2017, stated, “The show, thrown by a member of Hardik Patel-led Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti, missed its intended target as it landed some metres from of the stage from where Mandaviya, the MoS for road transport and highways, was addressing a gathering.”

Adding, “Following the incident, the local police arrested the 20-year-old college student Bhavesh Sonani, said Vallabhipur sub-inspector P S Rizvi. “We registered an FIR against Sonani and arrested him for hurling a shoe at the minister. He has been booked under sections 353 (assaulting public servant) and 186 (obstructing public servant) under the IPC,” the report quoted.

Multiple other news outlets reported on the incident in May 2017. Such reports can be seen here, here and here.

We could conclude that a 2017 video of a Patidar agitation activist hurling a shoe at Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has been misleadingly shared as a recent incident.
