Fact

We started by conducting a reverse image search which led us to a report by a Turkish news outlet TRT Haber dated June 10,2022, which had one of the keyframes of the viral video. As per the report and photo, the incident happened in Konya, a city in Turkey.

The man taking a dip in the milk vat was identified as Emre Sayar, and his colleague Ugur Turgut uploaded his video on TikTok. Both men were arrested after the video went viral.

As per report, they stated that the liquid they bathed was not milk. They also argued the tub was a disinfectant basin. Later the court acquitted both of them in October 2021.  Sayar later filed a lawsuit, demanding 120,000 liras. Sayar won the case, and the court in Konya ordered that he should be paid 1,150 liras. The report also said that the incident happened in November 2020.
We also found a report from the Indian Express dated November 13, 2020, with the headline, “Worker takes a bath in milk tub at dairy plant in Turkey; arrested after video goes viral.

As per the report of the Hurriyet Daily News dated June 13, 2022, Emre Sayar, the man seen in the video taking the ‘milk bath’, and Uğur Turgut, who shared the footage on his TikTok account, were arrested after the incident in 2020.

“The prosecutor in the case said that the material in the cauldron was not milk but hot water and milk remnants. The court acquitted Sayar and Uğur in October 2021. Following the court ruling, Sayar sued the state treasury, demanding a total of 120,000 Turkish Liras in compensation for pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages. Sayar won the case but the court in Konya ordered that he should only be paid 1,150 liras in compensation,” the report added.

Hence, from the above findings, we can ascertain that the video in question is from Turkey and not from Kerala. We also concluded that there was no communal angle to the video.
