The social media was abuzz with conversations around Independence Day celebrations this week, and as a result misinformation followed. While multiple social media users falsely claimed that Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa was not lit up in Pakistani flag, others shared an old video from Haryana to show a Tiranga rally in “Naya” Kashmir. A post falsely alleging that CJI  Chandrachud has appealed to the citizens to unite and oppose the government went viral, and a video from Haryana eatery was shared with fabricated claims. Viral Message Claiming CJI Chandrachud Has Urged Citizens To Revolt Against Govt Is False

A purported quote by CJI DY Chandrachud has gone viral on Whatsapp, where he is allegedly exhorting Indian citizens to unite and come onto the streets to question the present “dictatorial” government, their rights, while assuring his full support in their efforts to save the constitution and “democracy of India”.  CJI DY Chandrachud has not urged people to protest against the current government by taking to the streets, the viral quote was found to be fake and fabricated. Burj Khalifa Did Display Pakistani Flag, Viral Claims False

Several social media users are circulating a video, purportedly showing a gathering of
Pakistani nationals near Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa on August 14 midnight, claiming that they were left disappointed after the skyscraper did not display the Pakistani flag to mark the country’s Independence Day, while stating that it lit up with India’s Tricolour to commemorate India’s 77th Independence Day. Old Video From Haryana Shared As Tiranga Rally In Kashmir Under ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign

A video allegedly showing a Tiranga rally in Kashmir as a part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign during the Independence Day week has been shared on social media platforms. Newschecker found that the video has been shared in a false context. The video, in fact, shows a Tiranga rally by the students of a Madrasa in Haryana’s Mewat. Water From Gutter Used To Make Biryani? Video Of Haryana Eatery Goes Viral With False Communal Spin

Several social media users are circulating a video, purportedly showing an altercation at a biryani shop in Pinjore, Haryana, claiming that locals caught the workers at the roadside eatery using water from the gutter to cook biryani. Newschecker found that a video of an altercation at a Haryana eatery has been shared with a false communal claim that the roadside biryani shop was using gutter water for cooking and cleaning. Viral Photo Showing Messi’s Jersey On Display Not From Locker Room Of Saudi Arabia’s Club Al-Nassr

A picture showing footballers Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane, former teammates of English Premier League club Liverpool FC, hugging each other has gone viral on social media in recent days, with users claiming that the image was clicked at the locker room of Al-Nassr football club, of which Ronaldo is a player. Newschecker’s investigation has found that the claim that Lionel Messi’s jersey was displayed at Al-Nassr’s locker room, is not true. Read more here.
