A viral video shows Rahul Gandhi praising Pakistan’s elections as “more credible” than India’s.
Video found to be modified using AI; the original speech contains no reference to Pakistan elections.
A video allegedly showing Congress leader and LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi praising Pakistan’s election process and terming it as more credible than India’s has surfaced online.
In the video, Gandhi purportedly says, “They are destroying it. You know they are destroying it, I know they are destroying it, and they know they are destroying it. The election in Pakistan was actually more credible than what we see here. Every party ended up forming the government in the province where its victory made sense based on political realities and voter trends. I would like to conclude by saying that the biggest anti-national act you can do is vote chori…”

A keyword search for “Rahul Gandhi Pakistan elections” yielded no credible news reports or official statements. His official social media accounts (seen here, here and here) did not carry any remarks relating to Pakistan’s elections.
We examined Rahul Gandhi’s complete address delivered in the Lok Sabha on December 9, 2025, uploaded on YouTube by The Week, whose watermark is seen in the viral footage. Around the 27-minute mark, he says:
“…The thing that stitches together the entire concept of modern India, stitches together the fabric of modern India, brings people together, allows them to build this great nation, is being attacked by these people. They’re destroying it. You know they’re destroying it, I know they’re destroying it, and they know they’re destroying it. I’d like to conclude by saying that the biggest anti-national act you can do is vote chori. There is no bigger anti-national act that you can do than vote chori…”
The live stream of Gandhi’s address, broadcasted on his official YouTube channel, also contains the same (above mentioned) uninterrupted line around 28 minutes.

On analysing the viral clip, the audio suddenly changes tone and pitch during the section where the Pakistan remark appears (approximately 27–38 seconds). This abrupt shift signals external audio insertion.
During the same 27–38 second segment, Gandhi’s lip movements appear forced and unnatural and his lower jaw and lip region appear blurred and smudged.
We scanned the segment on Deepware Scanner, which detected deepfake presence in the footage.

Newschecker also analysed the voice of the section on Deepfake-O-Meter whose 3 out of 5 detectors rated the audio as having over 99% likelihood of being AI-generated. Similarly, Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector found the audio to be “likely deepfake.” Resemble AI, too, concluded the voice to be fake.

The alleged video of Rahul Gandhi praising Pakistan’s election system is fabricated. An AI-generated segment was inserted between 27 and 38 seconds to create the false impression that he compared India’s elections unfavourably with Pakistan’s. The original Lok Sabha speech contains no such remark.
Q1. Did Rahul Gandhi say Pakistan’s elections were “more credible” than India’s?
No. The remark was digitally inserted using AI and does not appear in his original speech.
Q2. Where did the fake statement appear in the viral clip?
The manipulated portion appears between 27 and 38 seconds of the clip.
Q3. Does his actual speech contain this line?
No. The official speech contains uninterrupted audio and no reference to Pakistan.
Q4. How do we know the clip was manipulated?
Sudden audio shifts, blurred lip movement, and detection by multiple deepfake tools confirm AI tampering.
