Old Video Showing Cargo Ship On Fire Off Sri Lankan Coast Falsely Shared As Israeli Vessel Bombed By Yemen

Several social media users shared a video claiming it shows an Israeli cargo ship ‘Unity Explorer’ bombed by Yemen amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. Newschecker found that the video dates back to 2021 and shows a Singapore-flagged cargo ship that caught fire off the coast of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Old Video Of House Collapsing Into River In Kerala Falsely Linked To 2023 Chennai Floods

A video showing a house collapsing into a river went viral with the claim that the incident happened in Chennai, where heavy rainfall and floods triggered by Cyclone Michaung in December 2023 displaced over 18,000 people and killed at least eight. Newschecker found that the video dates back to October 2021 and was taken during the flash floods in Kerala.
