The claim was also widespread on social media. Newschecker found that the deceased lawyer, identified as Saiful Islam Alif, was not representing the ISKCON priest.

Several social media users shared a 1:47-minute excerpt from former cricketer-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu’s press conference, where he purportedly claimed that his wife beat metastatic (stage-4) breast cancer with the help of a “strict diet and Ayurveda” that included a daily routine of lemon water, raw turmeric, apple cider vinegar, neem leaves, and tulsi. Newschecker found that the claims are recurring myths, while doctors clarified to us that it was misinformation based on no evidence.
Viral Video Of Rajasthani Temple Priest Falsely Shared As Chinmoy Das Sexually Assaulting Hindu Woman
A 1-minute 37-second video went viral with the claim that it allegedly showed Chinmoy Krishna Das, who was arrested on November 25 for sedition, attempting to rape a Hindu woman in a moving vehicle in Sylhet. Newschecker found that the viral video was of a October 2024 rape and blackmail case involving a temple priest from Rajasthan who allegedly drugged and raped the survivor.

A distressing 30-second video went viral on social media platforms and messenger platform WhatsApp, claiming to show one Mohammed Mujahid Islam, the media in-charge of Kerala Congress, shooting a cow in the head to celebrate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election held on November 20. Newschecker found that the video dated back to May 2024, predated Gandhi Vadra’s victory and was reportedly from Manipur.
