From the viral media purportedly showing US president Joe Biden’s response to the Jordan drone attacks to the 2024 interim budget presented by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, social media saw a spate of false claims in the past week. A 1.23-minute video showing a double amputee, using mobility equipment to climb onto a stage, and address a large audience, recently went viral on social media claiming to show the “Founder & Chairman of Tik-Tok”.  Newschecker found that the man in the viral video is Chinese motivational speaker Chen Zhou.

Joe Biden In Military Uniform, Human-Faced Fish? AI-Generated Media Shared As Real
Several social media users shared a purported image of US President Joe Biden in military uniform at a national security council meeting, set to authorise military action in the Middle East. Newschecker found the images to be AI-generated.

Video of Monkeys Ringing A Bell Is Not From Ayodhya Ram Temple
Multiple social media users shared a video, claiming that it shows monkeys ringing a bell after the Pran Prathishta ceremony at Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. Newschecker found that the viral video is not a recent incident and it is not linked to Ayodhya Ram temple consecration. It is an old video which has been online since 2017.

2023 Video Of Nirmala Sitharaman Snapping At Reporter Shared As 2024’s Post-Budget Press Conference
Several social media users shared a video, claiming it shows Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman responding angrily to a journalist’s question during a press conference after she presented the Interim Budget 2024-2025 in the Lok Sabha on February 1, 2024. Newschecker found the video to be from the 2023 post-Budget press conference.

A video of a woman dancing to the song ‘Mere Ghar Ram Aaye Hain ‘ recently went viral on social media claiming that the woman in the video is Ananya Das, the district collector of Sambalpur, Odisha. Newschecker found that the woman dancing in the video is not Sambalpur district collector Ananya Das, but content creator Mradula Mahajan.
