Tarek Fatah, a Pakistani-Canadian journalist and author on Wednesday took to Twitter and posted a video with a claim, “Pakistani mother slams the door shut in the face of Polio workers. Screams at the two female volunteers .”I will never ever allow my children to take these drops. Never never will my kids drink these drops. Never.” Fatah’s post has been retweeted by more than 9,000 users and got more than two lakh views on the video.
In the video, Tarek Fatah tweeted, a woman can be heard talking to Polio volunteers saying that she won’t allow her kids to take the polio drops as these drops can cause diarrhea. The woman can be heard saying that she doesn’t want to spend money on treating her kids and asks the volunteer to give her ration worth the money of drops.
We found that several Twitter and Facebook users have also posted the same video clip on their handle.

As we began fact-checking the viral claim, We found out that several Twitter users including actor Mehwish Hayat called out Tarek Fatah for spreading misinformation. Mehwish Hayat tweeted, “Thank u for giving your 2 cents on this but pls first verify the source b4 posting next time. It’s a scene from my movie” load wedding”, the polio worker is me & that woman an actress. Through the film, we were raising awareness of the issue. Glad 2 see our performances were so convincing.

With the help of keywords, we were able to find the full video. It was uploaded on a verified YouTube channel “AryMiP”. The title said Load Wedding is a 2018 Pakistani romantic social comedy film which stars Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat in lead roles. It was released on August 22, 2018. At 34:26 minutes, we found the same clip which Tarek Fatah posted on his Twitter handle.
On YouTube, we also found a video during the shoot of Load wedding. One can see cast and crew along with the production team in the video.
Conclusion
Newschecker’s team fact-checked the claim and found that the clip posted by Pakistani-Canadian author Tarek Fatah is from a Pakistani movie “Load Wedding”. The claim made by Tarek Fatah was found out to be untrue.
