Fake Images In The Name Of “Axis My India’s Opinion Poll” Goes Viral On Social Media

Claim

Recently, some images of an opinion poll purportedly conducted by Axis My India have been making rounds on social media. The viral data suggests that the BJP and NDA might not secure an outright majority in the Lok Sabha polls. Instead, the Congress and India Alliance appear to be closely trailing the BJP and NDA alliance. Sharing those images a user wrote on Facebook, “AXIS MY INDIA CONFIDENTIAL LOKSABHA OPINION POLL LEAKED!! BJP — 208 seats (37%), INC — 123 seats (26%), NDA — 243 (44%), INDIA – 242 (43%). It seems 45 days long elections will hit BJP badly and they will be less that 180. The Game is on, INDIA is coming” (sic)

Fact

Axis My India already issued a statement on their official X handle @AxisMyIndia on April 18, 2024, clarifying that the viral images are fake. They stated, “With regards to the upcoming 2024 Indian General Elections, certain opinion polls are being published using the name of Mr. Pradeep Gupta, Axis My India, since the past few days, which are completely false (misleading). This is to inform you all that Axis My India never publishes any kind of pre-poll/opinion poll. We will publish exit polls only after the elections as per ECI guidelines, on June 1 at 6.30 pm”(sic)

Pradeep Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Axis My India also posted the same on his X handle.

Conclusion

Thus it is clear that images purportedly displaying the results of Axis My India opinion polls, indicating that neither the BJP nor the NDA would secure a majority in the Lok Sabha elections, have been confirmed as fake.
