Claim
Massive turnout at PM Modi’s rally in Jalandhar.

Fact
2019 video of Prime Minister’s rally in Kolkata.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Jalandhar on May 24 ahead of the seventh and the last phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections which will see 57 seats (including 13 seats in Punjab) go to polls.

A30 second video showing the Prime Minister waving at a huge gathering has since surfaced on X claiming to show the massive turnout at PM Modi’s rally in Jalandhar, which is one of the seats that will vote on June 1.

X user @Pb08Waleee was among the many users who shared the video with a text overlay, “Good Job Jalandhar. Modi Rally Pap ground Jalandhar.”

Fact Check/Verification

We found that a slightly shorter version of the same footage was uploaded on the X handle of Narendra Modi on April 3, 2019 to show “Electrifying atmosphere” PM Modi’s Kolkata rally. The same video was shared by the BJP to show visuals from PM Modi’s public meeting in Kolkata ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls.

Notably, the video was earlier linked to PM Modi’s rally in Jalpaiguri, Manglauru, and Kutch. It was first debunked by Newschecker on September 3, 2022. The same can be seen here.

Hence, a 2019 video has been shared to show massive turnout at PM Modi’s rally in Jalandhar.
