Fact

A keyword search for “Sudha Murty”, “Quantum AI” and “Investment Platform” on Google did not yield any credible reports of any such announcement by Murty.

We, however, found a video interview of Murty uploaded on the official YouTube channel of CNBC-TV18 on January 19, 2023, titled ”Nothing Is Impossible If You Work Hard’: Sudha Murty’s Mantra For Women In Business World.’

It featured Murty in the same attire, and background as seen in the viral clip. A comparison of both the videos revealed that the viral clip showed an inverted version of the visuals seen in the YouTube video.

Notably, there was no mention of any such investment platform in CNBC-TV18’s video, confirming that the viral clip was manipulated.

We then checked a segment of the viral clip on AI detection tool Hive Moderation which found an aggregate 99.9% likelihood of the media containing AI generated or deepfake content.

Another AI audio detection tool, Resemble.ai termed the audio in the viral media, allegedly showing Murty promoting an investment platform, “fake.”

On clicking the link mentioned in the post, we were directed to the URL “https://ndtvnow.com/.” It displayed a fabricated web page impersonating the NDTV website – the actual URL of the news outlet is “https://www.ndtv.com/”

We then checked the URL mentioned in the post ”https://ndtvnow.com/” on website Scam Detector which found it to be “Young. Unsafe. Warning,” and concluded a low score of 3.6 points.

The Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU) of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA), of which Newschecker is a part, also analysed the clip and concluded, “original footage featuring Murty was manipulated with synthetic audio to fabricate the video.”

Newschecker has debunked several such deepfake videos allegedly showing Sudha Murty promoting an investment platform. The same can be seen here, here and here
