No such announcement by Kotak. Video found to be manipulated using AI.

A video claiming to show Uday Kotak, Founder and Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank, promoting an alleged AI-based financial platform developed with the government’s support has surfaced online. In the video, Kotak is purportedly heard saying, “With a small investment of ₹21,000, you can earn more than ₹400,000 per week” on the alleged platform.

The video was shared on Facebook by user @afterdarkrec on March 26, 2025, and can be seen here.

Fact Check/Verification

A keyword search for “Uday Kotak”, “investment platform” and “AI-based” on Google did not yield any credible reports on the alleged announcement by the businessman. 

We then looked up the keyframes of the clip on Google Lens which led us to a YouTube video by Kotak Mahindra Bank, dated May 14, 2014, titled ‘Uday Kotak’s views on Young & Digital.’

The video featured Kotak in the same attire, and identical background as seen in the viral clip. We skimmed through his interview but did not find any mention of the alleged investment opportunity.

On carefully analysing the viral clip, we noticed Kotak’s lip region appeared to be distorted and blurred in several frames, indicating that the video was likely manipulated using Artificial Intelligence.

We then ran past a section of the video on AI detection tool Hive Moderation which found an aggregate 99.9% likelihood of the media containing AI generated or deepfake content.

Another AI audio detection tool, Resemble.ai termed the audio in the viral media, allegedly showing Kotak promoting a financial platform, “fake.”

We also checked certain segments of the audio on Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector which found them to be likely deepfake.

Conclusion

Hence, the viral video claiming to show Uday Kotak promoting investment platform was found to be manipulated using AI.
