2021 video falsely linked to the ongoing controversy.

Digital creator and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia is facing massive public backlash over his inappropriate comments on the show ‘India’s Got Latent’, along with comedian Samay Raina and social media influencer Apoorva Makhija.

Amid the ongoing controversy, a video allegedly showing Allahbadia, also known as “Beer Biceps”, crying is being circulated on social media. In the video, he purportedly says, “I am feeling bad because the work has come to a halt…I just feel guilty. Have exposed the entire team because of it. All the work has stopped because of me.”  The same is followed by snippets from the reality show.

Multiple users sharing the video claim it shows Allahbadia’s reaction to the ongoing row. Newschecker, however, found the video to be old.

Fact Check/Verification

We skimmed through the recent posts on social media handles and YouTube channels associated with Allahbadia (Ranveer Allahbadia and Beer Biceps), but did not spot the video allegedly showing the digital creator in tears following the recent controversy.

Subsequent investigation led us to a YouTube video @ranveerallahbadia, dated April 7, 2021, titled “This Is NOT Clickbait – My Covid-19 Experience | Vlog 24.” Around 24 seconds into the video, we spotted Allahbadia in the same attire, sitting in the identical background as seen in the viral clip.

“…I tested positive for COVID,” he is heard saying. Following the same, we found the viral clip where Allahbadia speaks about “work coming to a halt” and “feeling guilty.”

Further, we came across a video statement by the content creator apologising for his remarks during ‘India’s Got Latent’ show.

“My comment was not just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platforms, and obviously, this is not how I wish to use them…I am just here for an apology. I had a lapse in judgement. It wasn’t cool on my part… Have asked the makers of the video to remove the insensitive sections from the video and all I can say in the end is sorry…,” he is heard saying in the clip.
