Claim

Hamas burning alive Israeli soldiers.

Fact

Newschecker first ran a relevant keyword search, which did not throw up any credible news reports.  We, however, noticed that the logo on the upper-right corner of the video seemed to be the flag of the ISIS terror group , raising our doubts.

Newschecker then ran a reverse image search of keyframes of the video, which led us to this Daily Mirror report, dated December 23, 2016, stating, “A shocking latest Islamic State propaganda video has been released showing two Turkish soldiers it captured in Syria being BURNT ALIVE.”

We then ran a relevant keyword search, leading us to multiple news reports from December 23, 2016, including the Hindustan Times, Al Jazeera, New York Post, NDTV, and Fox News, confirming that the viral video is not related to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

The reports reiterated that ISIS has released a video purportedly showing two captured Turkish soldiers being burned alive, after Ankara vowed to fight “terror” in Syria in response to 16 of its troops being killed in battle. Access to Twitter, YouTube and Facebook was reportedly blocked in Turkey after ISIS released the footage.

Result: False
