2025 Bihar Elections Dates Announced? No, Viral Claim Is False

An alleged notification announcing the schedule of the 2025 Bihar Elections has gone viral on social media platforms. The purported schedule states that the voting will be held in six phases between October 21 and November 20, and the results will be announced on November 24. Newschecker, however, found it to be false.

Fact Check/Verification

We began by looking up relevant keywords on Google which did not yield any credible reports/official releases announcing the schedule for the upcoming elections in Bihar.

Following this, we scanned the official social media handles (X and Facebook) of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar which did not feature any such notification. The official website of the Bihar CEO, too, did not carry any release/circular about the dates of the state elections. 

Newschecker then reached out to the Deputy Election Officer, Bihar, Dheeraj Kumar who dismissed the claim, and clarified, “The dates of the elections have not been announced yet. For this, a notification is issued, which has not happened till now. The dates are announced in front of the media through a press conference. Whatever is being said on social media about the dates of Bihar assembly elections is fake.”

Subsequent investigation revealed that the viral schedule is actually from the 2010 Bihar Elections which were conducted in six phases between October 21 and November 20, and the results were announced on November 24. The notification about the same was issued on September 6, 2010.

Conclusion

Hence, the viral posts claiming to show the 2025 Bihar Elections dates were found to be false.
