On carefully analysing the viral clip, we spotted a man wearing the Australian team jersey, raising our doubts. We also noticed a watermark of one “@SALEEMKHALIQ” on the bottom right corner in some such clips.
Using this information, we checked for “@SALEEMKHALIQ” on Google, and found an X account of a Pakistan-based sports journalist by the same name, Saleem Khaliq.
We scanned through his profile and found a longer version of the video uploaded on October 20, 2023 with the caption, “Indian fan supporting Pakistani team at Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru #PakistanCricket #PAKvsAUS.”
In the original video, the cricket fan says, “…(supporting) Pakistan team because it is a neighbouring country…And Australia is anyway very strong. We should support our neighbouring country…I support Australia too. But, today I am personal (personally) supporting Pakistan…”
Notably, the snippets where the man mentions Australia have been edited out in the viral clip.

The same video was also shared on Khaliq’s YouTube channel on October 20, 2023.
Australia played against Pakistan during a World Cup 2023 match at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and won by 62 runs.
We were independently not able to verify claims made by the man about himself in the viral clip, however, it’s an old video and is unrelated to the recent India Vs Pakistan match in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy.
