Claim

Alcohol being distributed to farmers amid the ongoing protests that has entered a fourth day.

Several farmers’ unions, including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), had called for a nationwide strike on Friday, to press for their demands before the Centre.

Fact

Newschecker ran a reverse image search of keyframes of the video, which led us to this Facebook post, dated April 11, 2020, well before the three contentious farm laws were passed by the Centre in September 2020.

Similar posts can be seen here and here, both from April 2020, when the country was under a coronavirus-enforced lockdown. Also, farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and elsewhere had travelled to the outskirts of Delhi in November 2020 in a year-long protest against the three farm laws, which were repealed in 2021, confirming that the viral video is not linked to the earlier farmers’ protests too.
