Videos and images from the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant flooded social media and mainstream media platforms this week, and as a result misinformation followed. From misformation around the Jamnagar gala to false claims on the accused in the Rameshwaram café blast in Bengaluru, and a fabricated opinion poll for the 2024 Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, here are our top fact checks of the week:

Viral Posts Falsely Link PFI Man’s Arrest In Telangana With Rameshwaram Café Blast In Bengaluru

Multiple social media users claimed that a PFI member, identified as  Abdul Salim, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Andhra Pradesh in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case in Bengaluru on March 1. Newschecker found the claim to be untrue. Salim is an accused in the Nizamabad PFI case involving an anti-India conspiracy by the banned outfit to carry out acts of terror and violence. Ronaldo Did Not Attend The Ambani Pre-wedding Bash, Viral Video Is From 2023

A video featuring footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez walking into an event in formal attire, is currently circulating on social media. Those sharing that video  claim that it showed the couple taking part in the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Unrelated Video Of Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma & AI Image Of Elon Musk Falsely Linked To Anant Ambani’s Pre-Wedding Bash

 Several social media users have shared a video, claiming to show Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, actor-producer Anushka Sharma, on their way to the Jamnagar gala, while a set of viral images claimed to show the owner of X/Twitter, Elon Musk, at the festivities. We found that the viral video and images claimed to show Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma on the way to Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding bash, along with Elon Musk enjoying at the gala, were found to be old and AI-generated media respectively. Jio Offering Free Recharge To Celebrate Mukesh Ambani’s Birthday? No, Viral Link Is Fake

A widely circulated message claims that Mukesh Ambani-owned Jio is offering free recharge for one month to celebrate Ambani’s birthday. The URL in the viral message, https://www.goodphoneoffer.com, raised our doubts as Jio’s official website address reads, https://www.jio.com. Newschecker learnt that the “goodphoneoffer.com” website was found to be “very suspicious” and marked “Young. Unsafe. Warning” by Scam Detector, a major fraud prevention resource. Fake ‘ABP-CVoter Opinion Poll’ For Andhra Pradesh Elections Goes Viral

Multiple social media users shared an alleged opinion poll conducted by ABP-Cvoter for the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, projecting a thumping majority for chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP in the 175-seat legislative assembly.
