PM Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh admitted that India paid the Taliban government in Afghanistan to attack Pakistan amid the recent border conflict.
Both videos were found to be manipulated. Verified government channels and official releases do not support the viral narrative.
Videos circulating on social media claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh admitted to paying the Taliban to attack Pakistan. The clips suggest India used the Taliban as proxies to weaken Pakistan.
Newschecker, however, found the clips to be doctored.

Reverse image search traced the video to PM Modi’s Diwali speech with armed forces aboard the INS Vikrant, streamed on Tribune’s YouTube channel- whose watermark is seen in the footage, and PM Modi’s official YouTube channel on October 20, 2025.
The viral clip shows distorted name tags, altered insignia, inconsistent backdrop, and forced lip movements. The audio tone is flat and unnatural.
The Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU) of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA), of which Newschecker is a part, also ran the viral audio on Aurigin.ai, a Swiss deep-tech company with an advanced audio deepfake detection engine, which detected 67% AI-generated content. Hive AI also identified manipulation markers on PM Modi’s face.
Reverse image search traced the clip to Rajnath Singh’s address at the BrahMos facility in Lucknow (October 18, 2025), live-streamed by ANI – whose watermark is seen in the footage, and available on Singh’s official YouTube channel.
Lip movements appear unnatural, areas are blurry or smudged, and the audio lacks natural pauses.
Hive Moderation concluded a 98.7% probability of AI-generated content. Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector found the audio to be “likely deepfake” and Resemble AI also flagged the audio as fake.

The claim that PM Modi and Rajnath Singh admitted to paying the Taliban to attack Pakistan is false. Both videos are deepfake manipulations with no basis in official statements or credible reporting.
