A viral video shows farmers in Rajasthan staging a massive protest against the Supreme Court’s recent decision approving a revised definition of the Aravalli Hills, which classifies an Aravalli hill as a landform rising at least 100 metres above the surrounding terrain, and defines an Aravalli range as two or more such hills within a 500-metre radius.

On closely analysing the viral video, we found that it is around 15 seconds long and consists of three segments. Notably, the first and third segments depict the same event, while the middle portion is from a different, unrelated source.
We extracted keyframes from these portions and conducted a reverse image search, which led us to a YouTube post by Divya Varhad Marathi, dated August 1, 2025. It linked the video to a religious procession from Khamgaon to Shegaon.

Additionally, a Facebook post by Saam TV shared similar visuals, stating that after a walk of over 64 days, the palanquin of Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj, which had gone to Pandharpur for Ashadhi Wari, was arriving in Shegaon, accompanied by nearly five lakh devotees. The visuals were also shared by Jai Maharashtra News linking it to the above mentioned religious procession.
Reportedly, the palki (palanquin) procession of Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj is an annual annual spiritual event, organised by Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan, which marks a devotional foot pilgrimage that spans 1,275km over two months — 725km to Pandharpur and 550km on return journey to Shegaon.
The video was earlier falsely shared to show the crowd at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar.
It captures a bullock-cart race held in Pedgaon, Satara district, Maharashtra. The same footage previously circulated falsely claiming to show a crowd at PM Modi’s rally in Rajasthan and was debunked by Newschecker on September 26, 2025.
Hence, we found that the viral video does not show farmers participating in the ‘save Aravalli’ protest in Rajasthan.
Haryana’s natural forest cover of 3.6% of its land area, already the lowest in the country (year and state-wise data on forest cover available on Dataful), could reportedly further decline as a result of the recent top court’s judgement over the definition of the India’s oldest mountain range, stretching from Delhi through Haryana, Rajasthan, and into Gujarat. This is because much of the state’s notified forest lies within low-elevation hill systems, which do not meet the 100-m criteria.
Forest cover in the Aravallis enhances precipitation and checks drought across the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi. Also, the remnant forests of the Aravallis act as a critical forest habitat and corridor, and a biodiversity hotspot, harbouring more than 200 bird species and endangered mammals.
