Old Video Of Fire At Lahore International Airport Shared As Recent

A Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip led us to a YouTube post by @Safyanalmassheikh, dated May 9, 2024. Carrying the same video, it stated, “Massive fire at Lahore Airport. Investigation suggests that a short circuit was the cause of the fire.” 

The video was also featured in an Instagram post by @tweakpakistan1 from May 9, 2024, confirming that the footage is old. 

Carrying a snippet from the viral clip, a report by Pakistan-based Arab News PK, dated May 9, 2024, stated, “The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said on Thursday four Hajj flights scheduled to fly in the morning departed following a fire caused by short-circuiting at an airport in the eastern city of Lahore which was “quickly brought under control.”” 

A report by Aaj TV Official from May 2024 also carried similar visuals of a fire at the Lahore airport.

A report by The Express Tribune, dated May 9, 2024, stated, “A fire broke out at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport in the wee hours of Thursday, disrupting the flight operations there, especially the global ones as even though the flames were doused soon enough, they severely affected the immigration system as preliminary reports suggest that they originated from one of the conveyor belts in the international departure lounge, quickly engulfing its counters.”

Hence, an old video is being falsely shared to show a recent fire at the Lahore International Airport.
