Claim

Palestinians fake a funeral procession amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.

The archived version of the tweet can be seen here.

Fact

Newschecker ran a reverse image search of keyframes of the video, which led us to this Arabic news report from UAE-based media outlet, Al Roeya, dated March 24, 2020, stating that a group of youths in Jordan staged a fake funeral to get around the country’s Covid-19 restrictions.

We then ran a relevant keyword search, which led us to a tweet by another UAE-based media outlet, 24.ae, dated March 24, 2020, sharing the video of the fake funeral.

Jordan-based newspaper, Roya News English, too, posted the video on Facebook on March 23, 2020, stating, “Fake funeral! People still breaching the law despite the warnings”, which confirmed that the viral video is not related to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
