Fact Check: Video Of Man Being Assaulted For Blasphemy In Bangladesh Shared With False Communal Spin

A Hindu teacher was harassed by Muslim extremists in Bangladesh with a garland of shoes.

A reverse image search of the keyframe of the viral video shows that the same video was posted on Facebook by renowned Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasrin on June 19, 2025. In that post, she stated that the name of the person being harassed in the viral video was Dr. Ahmed Ali. The incident, according to her post, took place in Baliakandi Upazila of Rajbari District, Bangladesh.
A reverse image search of keyframes of the viral video shows that on June 15, 2025, a similar report with photos was published on the Bangladeshi media website Kaler Kantho. The report stated that Ahmed Ali, a retired doctor from the Nawabpur Union Health Complex, was lynched in Baliakandi Upazila of Rajbari district of Bangladesh on charges of insulting Prophet Muhammad.

Dhaka Times 24 and BD News 24 reported that the incident took place at the Beruli Bazar area of Nawabpur Union on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Upon receiving the information, the police and army of Baliakandi police station went to the spot, calmed the situation and also rescued the man.
Thus, it is now clear that the person seen wearing a garland of shoes in the viral video is not a Hindu, but a Muslim.
