Photo shows anti-Hindu teachings at a madrasa.
Photo found to be digitally manipulated. Original image shows Sanskrit text written on the blackboard.
A purported photo from a madrasa showing a “comparison” between Hinduism and Islam listed on a blackboard has gone viral on social media platforms. In the purported photo, “Yoga,” “Janeu” and “Maglasutra”, listed under the “Hinduism” section, are all marked “wrong,” while “Halala,” “Khatna” and “Burqa”, mentioned under the “Islam” column, are marked correct.
The photo allegedly showing anti-Hindu teaching in a madrasa is being widely circulated on X and Facebook. Newschecker, however, found it to be digitally altered.

A Google Lens search on the viral image led us to an X post by ANI UP/Uttarakhand, dated April 9, 2018, carrying photos from a madrasa, and stating, “Goarakhpur: Sanskrit, among other subjects, being taught at Darul Uloom Husainia madrasa. Principal of the madrasa says ‘It’s a modern madrasa under UP Education board & subjects like English, Hindi, Science, Maths & Sanskrit are taught here. They are also taught Arabic’.”
“Students of Darul Uloom Husainia madrasa in Gorakhpur say ‘We feel good to learn Sanskrit. Our teachers teach & explain things very well. Even our parents help us in learning.’ Sanskrit, among other subjects, is being taught at the madrasa,” another post on the same thread stated.
The post also featured a photo showing the same classroom set-up, teacher and students, as seen in the viral image, with Sanskrit text written on the blackboard. On comparing the two photos, we could conclude that the viral image has been altered.
Other images posted by the news agency, seen here and here, also clearly display Sanskrit written on the blackboard.
