Video is AI generated.

A purported video showing an underwater expedition exploring the remnants of Ram Setu has gone viral on social media platforms. The video, which is over a minute long, shows a team of scuba divers inspecting rocks, remains of ancient structures and even a glowing idol. 

Multiple social media users shared the video claiming to show, “Sree Rama Sethu inside the sea.” Notably, the text overlay in the initial few frames of the viral video states,  “POV: You are a scuba diver exploring Ram Setu.”

Fact Check/Verification

A reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip did not yield any credible reports or release from competent authorities featuring the video claiming to show remains of Ram Setu. 

We then checked a section of the video on AI detection platform Hive Moderation which found an aggregate 99.9% likelihood of the media containing AI-generated or deepfake content.

Another AI detection website WasItAI analysed multiple stills from the viral clip, and concluded “We are quite confident that this image, or significant part of it, was created by AI.” 

Further, we found an Instagram post by @bharathfx1 -whose watermark can be faintly seen in the middle of the screen in the footage – dated March 27, 2025, featuring the same video.

The post carried a disclaimer clarifying that the clip was AI generated. “The images/videos shown in this reel are purely AI generated, our intentions are not to hurt or harm anyone. This is just for entertainment purpose,” it stated.

We skimmed through the profile of ‘Bharath FX’, an account involved in 3D computer graphics (VFX, Film & Animation), video editing, and film making, and found several such AI generated videos.

Conclusion

Hence, the viral video claiming to show scuba divers exploring remnants of Ram Setu was found to be AI generated.
