Viral Video Of Khan Sir’s Wife Lifting Her Veil During Wedding Reception Is A Deepfake

Popular Youtuber and educator Khan Sir and his wife AS Khan hosted their wedding reception in Patna on June 2. The visuals from the event soon went viral on social media, sparking an online debate with some users questioning why the bride was seen wearing a veil while greeting the guests.

Now, an alleged video from the reception showing Khan Sir’s wife lifting the veil and revealing her face is being widely circulated on X, Facebook and YouTube. Newschecker, however, found the video to be AI generated.

Fact Check/Verification

A keyword search for “Khan Sir,” “wife” and “face reveal” on Google did not yield any credible reports carrying videos/images showing her lifting the veil on stage during their wedding reception in Patna. 

On carefully analysing the viral clip, we noticed several anomalies indicating AI manipulation. For instance, the envelope held by the bride vanishes abruptly and her nose-ring disappears once she lifts the veil. Additionally, Khan Sir’s face and hands appeared to be distorted in multiple frames. 

Further, we also spotted the watermark of one “@NewzYatra.com” on the middle of the screen and looked up the same on social media platforms. 

We found an Instagram account by the same username NewzYatra (@newz_yatra), carrying the viral clip and stating, “Khan Sir’s wife removed her veil by Ai.” The same was shared on their Facebook handle too. 

Newschecker then looked up the video on AI detection tool Hive Moderation which found an overall 90.3% likelihood of the media containing AI generated or deepfake content.

We also analysed the screengrabs from the alleged clip showing the face of Khan Sir’s wife, AS Khan, on multiple other AI detection platforms, which concluded a high probability of the same being AI generated. 

Website AI or Not, for instance, found the screengrab to be “likely AI generated” and WasItAI concluded, “We are quite confident that this image, or significant part of it, was created by AI.” Another AI detection tool Sightengine stated a 99% probability of the screengrab being a deepfake. 

Moreover, we found a photograph from Khan Sir’s reception which was identical to the first frame of the viral clip. Notably, multiple AI powered platforms enable users to convert static images into desired motion videos. The viral clip has likely been created using one such platform.

Conclusion

Hence, we find that the viral video claiming to show Khan Sir’s Wife, AS Khan, lifting her veil during their wedding reception is created using AI.
