A viral video shows US President Donald Trump criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the vandalism by Hindutva outfits during Christmas celebrations across India.
No such statement by President Trump so far. Video found to be altered using AI.
Amid instances of vandalism targeting Christmas celebrations and decorations in several parts of India by Hindutva outfits, a video has surfaced online claiming that US President Donald Trump criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue.
In the clip, Trump allegedly calls Modi a “chameleon” and accuses him of hypocrisy for attending a Christmas service at a Delhi cathedral “without stopping the terrorist behavior of your supporters.”
Newschecker also received the video on its WhatsApp tipline (+91-9999499044), requesting it to be fact-checked.

A keyword search using terms such as Donald Trump, Narendra Modi, India, and Christmas yielded no credible news reports indicating that the US President criticised Indian authorities over Christmas-related vandalism.
Additionally, a review of Donald Trump’s official social media handles and public statements showed no such remarks.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral clip led to a YouTube video by White House, dated January 30, 2025, showing the US President addressing the press following an aviation incident, filmed in the same setting and attire as seen in the viral video.

Another White House video, dated August 11, 2025, also features President Trump in an identical background and outfit. However, neither video contains any remarks related to India, Christmas celebrations, or Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On closely analysing the viral clip, several inconsistencies were observed:
