Students of Aligarh Muslim University Did not Display This Image of PM Modi In A Poster During Their Protest

Claim

To mark their protest against the abrogation of Article 370, the students of Aligarh Muslim University showed PM Modi as dracula in their posters.

Verification

A poster of Prime Minister Narender Modi as Dracula is doing rounds on social media. In this poster, PM Modi is presented as a Dracula of Kashmir.

There has been an outpouring of false claims on social media after the abrogation of Article 370. Old images have been shared to mislead people. Amid these misleading claims, Newschecker found this tweet which has more than 500 retweets and 1.3k likes.

It’s clearly evident from the image that it is morphed.

But was this poster displayed in AMU? We began our search by looking for this image on Twitter and found a tweet by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Aligarh University which states “Aligarh Police denies links with AMU about “Objectionable” meme of PM and Media also carries university denial. AMU has initiated an FIR & legal action to expose culprits who want to tarnish the image of the great institution of learning.

Going further, we found a video posted on Facebook which had the same poster. Turns out, this poster was used during a protest held outside the Indian High Commission in London.

It was now clear that this poster has no connection with the Aligarh Muslim University.
