Fact Check
A video circulating online shows Pakistani fans creating a ruckus inside the Dubai stadium after Pakistan lost to India in the 2025 Asia Cup final.
The video is old and unrelated to the 2025 Asia Cup. It dates back to September 2022, when Pakistan and Afghanistan fans clashed during an Asia Cup Super 4 match in Sharjah.
India clinched the 2025 Asia Cup title by defeating Pakistan by five wickets in Dubai on September 28, 2025. Soon after the win, a video began trending online claiming to capture chaotic scenes of Pakistani fans displaying unrest in the stands over their team’s loss.

A Google Lens search of keyframes from the viral clip matched a YouTube upload from September 8, 2022, showing identical visuals tagged as a Pakistan vs Afghanistan match.
Carrying the viral clip, multiple news reports from September 2022 detailed the clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan fans after a Super 4 Asia Cup match in Sharjah, which Pakistan won by one wicket.
“The clash took an ugly turn as supporters of both teams hit each other with chairs. In a video, a man can be seen hitting another person wearing a Pakistani jersey with a chair. Afghan fans allegedly hit Pakistani fans at the stadium after their team was defeated in the Asia Cup. Raising slogans like “Afghanistan Zindabad,” the fans also allegedly started vandalising the Sharjah Cricket Stadium,” reported India Today on September 8, 2022.
Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar shared the same footage in September 2022, criticising Afghan fans and tagging the former Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO, Shafiq Stanikzai, who responded, saying: “You can’t control the emotions of the crowd. Such incidents happen in cricket… and next time, don’t take it to the nation..”

The viral clip of Pakistani fans allegedly creating a ruckus after India’s 2025 Asia Cup victory is false. It is from a 2022 Pakistan-Afghanistan match in Sharjah and has no connection to the Dubai final.
